Teenage Dirtbag – Match.com

Licensing, Music Supervision, Sound Design

For match.com’s 2016 European campaign, we engaged in a prolonged search, negotiation, live recording and production of a new cover version of the pop-rock teen anthem “Teenage Dirtbag”, originally recorded by Wheatus.

Following the second instalment of the “Love Your Imperfections” campaign, we wanted a well-known early 00s song that would reflect the idea of being an underdog who ultimately manages to find love and happiness. There was no more perfect composition to convey this than Teenage Dirtbag’s story about an outcast, a loser, who finds love in the end despite this.

The new cover was recorded with Spanish teen choir Cor Jove in a 1900s Italian-style theatre in Barcelona, giving the grungy track a fresh angelic, lighter version reflecting the campaign’s touching message.
